HOD is even better on a snow day

Today could have been a disaster. We don't get too many big snows here so when we do it is an exciting thing (as long as you aren't going to the grocery). Today we had my dd off from public school because of the snow, heavy snowfall out the window, and one little boy who really wants to go sledding. He got up at 6 and by 7:15 had all his boxes numbered and books stacked up and was heading for his quiet time. He worked like a little beaver and was done by 12:30 and that was with a fairly long lunch and our additional Winter Olympics Unit Study he is doing. He didn't complain once because he loves the curriculum so much and actually couldn't wait to read his DITHOR book today. Our neighbor boy that uses a different curriculum is still working hoping to get done soon so dads and sons can head for the sledding hill. I just love how easy HOD makes everything and I realized it even more today.

Lynn - Your ds was motivated! I am so impressed with him. He just showed a bunch of character traits we as moms all want our dc to possess - hard worker, diligent, goal-oriented - oh my, I could go on and on. :D You can be so proud of him! And a natural reward was to get to go sledding earlier - an excellent life lesson. HOD is fun - even on a snow day. We have the same thing here today. Snow blizzards galore, and schools all around us cancelled. I LOVE these days. We are stuck indoors, but school does not have to be cancelled. This is the best time to do school! While other dc have to miss school and have another day tacked on at the end of the school year (when the weather is nice), our dc can just move ahead and still finish on time. A definite perk to homeschooling for my boys! Give your ds an HOD hug - I'm proud of him!

In Christ,
Julie

Same here! :D Although, it's too cold (subzero) to go out to play today, I'm sure that there will still be plenty of snow around when it finally warms up! :D

I love that we can happily do our school AND still have fun in the snow AND finish early in the spring, too!! :D

We wimpy Texans even had school cancellations today for icy roads and low temps. I know you northern gals would say, "School closings? It's shorts weather down here." But we too loved snuggling and doing HOD.

Lynn,

I had to smile when I read your thread as we have literally been snowed under since Christmas here! :D We have been thankful to be underway with school as it gives us something to look forward to doing as we've been indoors a bunch due to 30 mile an hour below zero windchills.

When it gets to zero and above the boys are very motivated to get outside and sled and build snow forts. So, we can relate well to your post! :D

I'm so proud of your little guy and his motivation. It is a joy to see him growing this year! Thanks for sharing. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
