Not getting the expected answer.....

As part of storytime today, ds was supposed to pick a character he would like to have as a friend. Then based on what you know of this character, think of a gift that they might like. We are reading Benjamin West and ds picks Jacob. I'm thinking that a good gift would be a cat (cause he gave Grimalkin to Benjamin) or tools (he wants to be a ship builder). Ds son says a great gift would be.... "The Holy Spirit."
Thought I'd share that expected answers are not always the best answers.

Laurie - wouldn't it be something if we all responded that way? God is surely working in your ds's heart. What a moment to tuck away in your heart!
In Christ,

Julie, it would be great if we could all respond this way. The faith of a child!
We have been learning the verses Matt 6:19-21 this week also and it has been interesting to see his face when I ask him if he is storing up treasures in heaven or on earth. His response has been better than expected. It has been a perfect verse to have when starting back up after a long break.

Laurie,
What an amazing answer!

When moments like that take me by surprise, I'm always blessed to see God working in my kiddos' hearts and minds. My own public school background mentality often pops an "expected answer" to a question into my brain before I even think about it. It's wonderful to know our kiddos thoughts will take a different "expected answer" path due to their different type of schooling.
Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,
Carrie
