Can I just say I love a program that has my kids cleaning!

Post by water2wine » Tue Jan 05, 2010 5:12 pm

We have a repeat day here on activity, scrubbing like we are in Holland from Beyond with my 5 and 7 year old. Now I have to admit there is a lot of water but they vacuumed then scrubbed the entire down stairs floor. I said maybe we can make this a routine and the response was "Awesome!". Gotta love a program that gets them loving to scrub the floors! I will have a little extra laundry but my floors are clean. The only complaining was some minor whining from my 5 year old that my 7 year old was hogging scrubbing the floors. Now if we could just get the older kids thinking stuff like this is cool we would be in business. :D Maybe RTR will teach them how to manage the whole household, hahaha! Ok I can dream. I guess Carrie can't fix everything.

Yes, I laugh that my kids enjoyed that, too! I wouldn't have survived in Holland! I can barely scrub the inside of my house, let alone the outside! ha!

I know could you imagine scrubbing the whole outside! I guess they had to do that to make up for the fact the house was crooked, hahaha!

I'll be looking forward to that one!! My floors need scrubbed at least once a day - which I assure you does NOT happen! :D I would never consider scrubbing the outside! Do you think they had as much wind and dust as we do in Kansas??

Yep, I agree. We did the packing activity awhile back in LHFHG and now Big J is all set to pack his suitcase when we go to grandma's house this spring. He talks about it all the time. I can't wait for the floor scrubbing activity! :D

water2wine,

Very, very inspiring!
I loved reading how your 5 yr. old was disgruntled about the 7 yr. old hogging the scrubbing time, what a problem to have!!!
If you run out of scrubbing area, my house is in desperate need of some scrubbing! :D

Thank you for sharing this!

Candice,

I think she would love that. :D  Yesterday she scrubbed the refrigerator top top bottom, just the outside but it was a great bonus! I did ask if she would like to scrub your house and she was very enthusiastic. My seven year old even went for that. But you are on the other side of the US so perhaps she could clean something in your honor! I'll see what I can do about that.

water2wine,

I had to laugh when I saw your post, as my 7 year old had his "scrubbing day" today! We must be at the same spot in Beyond. :D

My little guy scrubbed our lazy susan. It is now sparkling white again. HOORAY! :D My 10 year old chimed in that he remembered doing that activity, and he's in CTC now. Where does the time go?

Blessings,
Carrie

I remember this one too. It may have been the last time the floor was truly spotlessly cleaned - and it was SPOTLESS! My ds was inspired and cleaned like crazy. We may need to read about those hard-working Hollanders again. I'm so glad your dc enjoyed it as well! :)

 Carrie & water2wine - we just had our "scrubbing day" yesterday too! I had them scrub our kitchen chairs all over, top to bottom, and they loved it. What could be better than that? Now I know I get to look forward to planning a project for when the next 2 kids in line are doing this week of Beyond next year.
