Hoping to begin Preparing with 10 yo soon

Post by blessedmomof4 » Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:45 pm

Hi, I used Bigger Hearts for one year and it was the best homeschool year of our lives! Unfortunately, by the end of that school year I found myself divorced and unable to continue homeschooling as I suddenly had to work full time outside the home. I won't go into personal details about me, this isn't the place. About the kids, public school has proved to be ok for my 11 year old since she is doing well in grade 6 and even taking advanced classes, but I don't like the attitudes and speech she comes home with. I am quietly praying she will want to come back home when she sees her younger sister enjoying homeschool again. The 10 year old has had a hard time at school and really needs to come back to homeschool. In math she has made zero progress in a year and a half! She is in the second half of grade 5 operating at a mid grade 3 level in math which is where she was when she started grade 4 in public school. I also have a 17 year old son who is graduating public high school this year. He has started singing in a Christian band and I am really excited about that. My 14 year old ballet student attends 10th grade in public school. She is considering coming back home to finish her high school studies due to the time demands of attending a brick-and-mortar school AND 20 hours a week of dance classes!
I am now recently remarried to a good Christian husband who is supportive of the decision to leave my full-time job and homeschool our youngest. He is showering the kids with kindness and love. We are both on staff at our church and very involved in the music ministry. We are working on starting a home business and trying to have a baby :) I look forward to being a part of Heart of Dakota again!

Lourdes! It is SO good to "see" your smiling face! :D The board has grown a bit since we last saw you! I can remember that you were one of the first group of women that we began the board with, so I feel so blessed to have the chance to connect with you once again. :D

We pray your youngest will enjoy Preparing Hearts and that you will have wonderful discussions as you're both drawn ever closer to the Lord.

Thanks for the update on your life. I know it can't have been an easy time for you, and I am glad to hear the Lord has walked with you through it all.

Looking forward to chatting with you on your journey through Preparing. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
