The same curriculum for multiple ages?

I have a daughter who is currently 6 (kindergarten) and a son who is 3. My daughter will be in 2nd grade when my son is in kindergarten. I was wondering if I can us the same cirriculum (Heart of Dakota of course) for both at the same time. I wasn't sure if they were to far apart in age. My fear is that my daughter (who I think is very bright) will either be bored or it will be far to difficult for my son. If it is possible which Heart of Dakota do you suggest? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Welcome!
Have you looked at the program placement chart?

It's really helpful in placing children into a good fitting program.

My DD is 6 and my DS is 3. I really thought I wanted to combine them as much as possible. But to be honest with you, when they are this young, it's just plain impossible for our family. My kids are just too far apart in skills that we'd either be dragging DS along, or the program wouldn't be challenging enough for DD. So for now, I have chosen to separate them and then think about combining them later once DS is reading.

What a great ongoing question that I think those of us with more than 1 child ask continuously! I have been able to combine HOD with extensions for the past 2 years with 3 children. Last year we used Bigger with ages 7, 10, 11; This year we are using Preparing with ages 8, 11, 12. So far it's been a huge blessing and a lot of fun. With the options that HOD offers for every guide it makes it easy to choose more specifically for each child. However, for me it looks like this was a blessing for a short time as I see that my older boys need more and my middle son needs more time to get it all done. So, for next year my plan is to keep my older 2 in the same guide (RTR), my middle guy on his own (Bigger), and my younger 2 in the LHTH (I plan to extend this for my 5 y.o. with FIAR). Isn't it great that there are so many choices! One thing I do know is that HOD has been a huge blessing combining or not we have been blessed with this God-based curriculum that includes HIM in our school and not just in the devotions! Have fun deciding!
