How do YOU use the Appendix?

Hi! First of all I am SO thrilled to finally have my LHFHG guide in my hot little hands! Woohoo! Okay, now that that's out of the way

.....
I'll be using the 1st Grade Supplement,
Our Father's World, for Science & the
Singapore Primary Mathematics 1a/1b for Math. As I was flipping through the book it occurred to me that I'll be referring to the Appendix a lot. Which got me wondering what is YOU'RE method for using the appendix? For example, I was thinking of just making skinny little bookmarks for each subject (science, math, literature supplements, rhymes in motion) and just moving the bookmarks along as we go. But I'm a bit worried about them falling out. OR I was thinking about saving a little flipping by going through and either making little notes directly on all the pages or using stickies so that the info is right there on the unit page along with all the other boxes.... but that seemed like too much work. Anyone else doing something different? How's it working for you?
TIA!
Kathleen

I put removable tabs on my TMs.
For my daughter's math (she's in CTC), I actually photocopy the Singapore schedule and she just keeps in her math book. She crosses it off as she does it and then recycles the page when finished.

I've been using small post-it notes and I write on them what they are for....i.e. science, Bible, etc. This is working well for me, but I also really like the idea of photocopying as the previous poster said!

I use the moveable tabs like Daisy does! They're great! (And I found they don't lose their "stick" like post-it notes do.)
Have fun when you get started!

Thanks for the great suggestions! I had thought of adding tabs but didn't want to do anything that permanent. I didn't realize they made removable & reusable ones now! That's great! I also really like the suggestion for copying and sticking the pages in the appropriate book for checking off. I think I'm probably going to use both of those suggestions.
Thanks so much!

I have my Bigger manual spiral bound and the appendix is bound separately. It is great because you are flipping to the appendix so often!

We use sticky notes labeled with the subject at the top. I like the idea of removable tabs. I may have to try that out! For now, the sticky notes are working fine, but one bites the dust every now and then.

I do make a copy of the poems usually, just so I can draw on them an arrow for how much I want them to copy each day. I guess you don't need to think about that until Beyond though!

Have fun with LHFHG - I bet it's burning up in your grasp!
In Christ,
Julie

I use the movable labeled tabs as well. It works really well. I also use a big paper clip on the day so it is all open and go each time.

I use post-it notes but I love the removable tabs idea! I think I'm going to try that. I may even have some around here. I think you can get them at any office supply store, or even Walmart.

We are using BLHFHG and I use colored index cards. I have one for the day of the week (i.e. Unit 1, Day 3), one for the math location, one for the spelling words, one for the emerging readers, one for the poem. The only ones I use daily are the day of the week, the math, and the emerging readers. I copy the poem for copywork, and we just read from that daily. The daily use ones are all the same color, and the other sections each have their own color.

I got mine at Wal-Mart next to the office supplies. (And my local Wal-Mart happens to be the smallest one made...

...so I'm sure you can find them at any and ALL Wal-Marts.

) I would guess that any office supply store would sell them. I can't find my package, but mine were post-it note tabs. And, I don't thnk they actually said they were moveable on the package, but they were. They were 3 different colors.
These happen to be my only prep tool for HOD.

This year, I'm only having to move the tabs every other day! (I put it on the right page of day 1 and leave it there for day 2...and then move it to the right page of day 3) Whew! Can't beat that 2 second job twice a week!
