I've made expensive mistakes this year regarding curriculum

Well, after finally coming back around to HOD (thank goodness). I'm back with my original plan of a Beyond/Bigger combo.
Which I love, but I took a break previously with other material, only to find out that this combo is going to be what we need!
I'm gonna look at it this way! I have a head start on my history for next year (Bigger).
The switching around has cost us time and money, but I had to learn the hard way.
Look forward to chatting with you all!
Tina

Hi Tina,
Commiserating here because I'm in the same boat. This is our 12th year and I just panicked at the beginning when we were going to do both Bigger and CTC. Initially, I had such a peace about HOD after much thought and prayer, only to let me flesh take over in an instant.
I think there's a lesson in obedience for me in all this.
Now we're back to only doing Bigger and I feel a huge sense of relief.

Hi Tina and Angela! Well, we've all bought things that were not the best of purchases and tried to use things that just didn't click - so you are definitely NOT alone here! However, I think what makes you two deserve some applause is your willingness to admit this and make a change.
This is hard to do, especially when money is involved and most of us are on a limited budget already. This takes courage! But it is so worth it. Just think how joyful you can be to start fresh! I'm so glad you're back to HOD, and I look forward to chatting more with you as we go through our year together.
In Christ,
Julie

Thanks so much Angela and Julie!
I needed that encouragment!
Angela, I did the same thing as you! I prayed about my decision, ordered my books and panicked.
So, I can definitely relate!
Even though we were only able to get some of the guide in this week (Bigger plus what I remember from Beyond, I'm waiting on Beyond to arrive), it was PLENTY of material for us to cover and a breath of fresh air!
I will post more later about our experience!

Just to make you feel better, my first year of hsing I made a $3500 mistake, my kids fell behind, the curriculum was horrible and on top of that it could not be sold or reused. Feel better now.
Life goes on. The lesson learned for me is once you find peace never let it go. It took us a while to get there but now we really appreciate it and never look at changing.

Oh my goodness water2wine!
I have not tallyed up all that I've spent, but it's a high amount, no doubt.
I do appreciate you sharing this with me. I'm sorry you had to go through that big of an expense!
If I had more than one child, I probably would have spent that amount or close to it.
However, like you said, peace is worth a lot!
It's amazing what we do for our kids isn't it??
