Ladies,

I also wanted to let you know that we are planning to use Medieval History-Based Writing Lessons from IEW along with the new RTR guide. We will schedule it 3 days a week with an optional 4th and 5th day for older students. These writing lessons coordinate well with the general topics being studied in the new RTR guide. The lessons are laid out very clearly and our plans will further divide the lessons into even more manageable daily segments. :D

Although IEW recommends using their full-blown writing course and DVD's prior to using Medieval History-Based Writing Lessons, the instruction within the Medieval guide is so well-done that both students and teacher can use the guide without ANY prior IEW practice. While my oldest son has been through IEW's SWI-A and B (in which we bogged down eventually and needed a switch to something more creative), we do not find it necessary to have done any IEW prior to using the Medieval guide. Since we will schedule the parent to guide the lessons, the child will do fine without any former IEW training. :D The preparation from Rod and Staff's writing and Write with the Best will be more than adequate. :D

Here's a link to peek inside this terrific resource: http://www.excellenceinwriting.com/file ... Sample.pdf

Blessings,
Carrie

Looks very straight forward. I really like what I see in the sample. Looks like a great resource. We'll be excited to use it. :D Getting excited about using RTR next year!

Carrie,

What I continue to enjoy about your insights is you are using so many resources that I've been interested in using, but was turned off by the suggested pre-requisites. I continue to be delighted by how many resources your planning to use that are already on my shelf ....just waiting to be used.

Thanks for being so "like-minded."

With Joy!
Florence

I'm serious...
This is just awesome. I am SO thankful for HOD!! It really does just keep getting better and better.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
