Science Activities

I may be a late bloomer...but I was wondering if the curriculum was designed for us to do the activities in the science curriculum (now in Beyond) or if we are just to read and discuss the material. I think I have been so comfortable and happy with the simplicity of HOD so far this year that I didn't realize that those activities in the science book really can be good to do. Just asking...do you do those activities when you come across them in science/history books, or do you just read the material and do the activities in the guide.

Thanks so much for your input in advance!

I just do what's planned in the HOD guides, and not anything extra in the science books, etc.. I am honestly feeling so good just getting the experiment done each week, as well as the activities/reading in the HOD guides, and that's enough for me. I say this after many years of adding in things and feeling stressed about getting those extras done, sometimes at the expense of completing the necessities. So, for us, it's best for me to just focus on getting done what's in the HOD guides consistently, and then letting my kiddos enjoy exploring and creating as they want to during their independent free/play time. However, if you would enjoy adding in more and doing the extras in the science books, etc. I would go for it! :D

Heather,

The activities within the books are considered to be optional extras that you can choose to do or not to do in addition to the HOD guides. At our house, as life has become busier we only do what is within the HOD guides and find that the program is very full. :D

Hope that helps!

Blessings,
Carrie
