I have a couple questions about the handwriting choices and grammar/writing
Opinions on the handwriting books? Has anyone found they like one better than the other or any issues with the one you chose?
Did you purchase Preparing to Build: English 2? Wondering if it's worth the additional investment?

Here is a review I did of Cheerful Cursive with samples. We love it!

and I've been a long-time R&S English user. We all enjoyed the 2nd grade book. It is a gentle and godly introduction to grammar. My son's lesson yesterday was about how yummy honey is and that the Bible say's God's Words are sweeter than honey. It went on to teach a lesson on nouns. Great stuff.

Hi Marcee!
We are new to HOD this year, but my DS (7.5 yo) LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Cheerful Cursive! He says it is his favorite subject.
It is only one page a day, so it is just enough for him to challenge him, but not overwhelm him.
I also purchased R&S 2 (we used First Language Lessons last year for 1st grade) and some of R&S 2 has been a review, but I feel like it is cementing many of the grammar concepts for him that we touched on last year. I really like the way R&S builds on each grammar concept in a gentle way. I have an English degree, so I am very picky about using a good grammar and English program, etc.
We do much of R&S orally and on the whiteboard so that it doesn't feel like too much writing to DS. So far, no complaining!

My oldest is currently working through Cheerful Cursive and loves it, just loves it. She does one lesson a day.
She did Preparing to Build English last year, and breezed through it. When I initially considered homeschooling, I wondered how I would ever get through the subjects I hated when I was growing up. Well, R&S has done a wonderful job with this gentle introduction to teaching English/grammer.
I would give them both two thumbs up!
