Help with grammer change

Post by dianeh47 » Tue Oct 27, 2009 4:53 pm

Ladies,
I put my three ds's in Rod and Staff grammer this year. My two youner children grades 5 and 7 love it, but my oldest son age 13, in grade 8, who is doing r&S grade six is very frustrated over it, He was crying and says it is too complicated and he can't understand it and wants to do another grammer program. Does anyone have any suggestions about another grammer program that would be easier for him to understand?

Blessings,
Diane

Hi Diane,

I was told by 2 sources that R&S 6 was hard & to start my ds's 11.5 & 12.5 out with R&S 5 – especially since we did not previously use R&S. So far it is easy for them; however, I expect that it will get harder. Maybe you should just step back a "book" and don't worry what "grade" it says on the cover. Because I am not always available to work with my kiddos like HOD suggests I also have my kiddos doing an independent L.A. that I am pretty sure that HOD has at least in the past recommended as an alternative L.A.: Language Lessons for the Secondary Child for my almost soon-to-be 13 y.o. and Language Lessons for the Elementary Child 2 for my soon-to-be 12 y.o. This L.A. is broken down into short, daily lessons that are student-led. None of my children have ever complained about these Charlotte Mason styled workbooks.

For what it's worth!
