HOD and a love for writing

Another HOD breakthrough happened to us Friday. My dd in Beyond who used to cry at her copywork, thought I was the most awesome mom in the world when I told her about 6 weeks ago to reduce her copywork to one perfectly written line. We were doing 3-4 according to the manual's instructions. Little did she know that it was actually because of the advice of you wonderful ladies who recommended I reduce her copywork, since she was fussing so much and turning in work that was completely unacceptable.

Well, Thursday she wrote a complete stanza of the poetry on her own...and Friday she confessed her love of writing. She actually shrieked with joy when I told her she was only required to write one line, but could write as much as she wanted after that. Her handwriting is beautiful. I had no idea that "less is more". I wish I had known years ago! Thank you Lord for Heart of Dakota, thank you Carrie for all of your obedience in writing these manuals, and thank you ladies for your great advice.

So happy for you. It's amazing how helpful this board is. I'll keep that advice in mind.

That's wonderful to hear, Heather! :D I've really come to believe in that "less is more" philosophy (in regard to everything but chocolate, that is  ). Seriously, though, I am so excited for you and your dd. That couldn't have unfolded any better! :D

In Christ,
Julie

Heather,

Isn't it amazing what a difference a small change can make? I love having this board full of wise ladies who have excellent advice. Together we can work to make God's calling to homeschool a bit easier for each family.

I am so blessed that you took the time to try some of the suggestions and to come back and share an update. Thanks for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
