Brought tears to my eyes and a smile all at the same time

Post by LynnH » Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:49 am

As most of you know my ds has Cerebral Palsy that causes his hands to tremor. We have told him since he was very young how God made him special, but yesterday I saw how HOD and the books we are reading are making that real to him. In reading Tirzah and Grandpa's Box we have talked quite a bit about how God chooses people for certain things. We talked about Moses and how he didn't think he was up to the task, but how God knew he was because God made him for that task. Yesterday in the car my ds says "Mom God made each one of us unique and special right?" I told him yes. He then says "He created us all for a purpose, right" again I told him right. Then he says "Mom I know someday God is going to use this shaky hand of mind to do something special for Him also". It was all I could do to keep driving. I completely agreed with him. I think the stories we are reading have made it so real to him to see how God used all of these imperfect people to do great things. So again Carrie I say thank you. I would never have found a book like Tirzah on my own, and at first my ds was overwhelmed by how long the readings were, but that book is making an impact on him.

On a side note I would ask for prayer for him because yesterday afternoon he came down suddenly with what could be H1N1. He is feeling pretty crummy. He wanted to try and do school and was just too sick and he was crying because he only got 3 subjects done.

That is wonderful! I have a child with CP as well. She had a big moment when she realized what she "had" is not genetic and she could have children that would be able to walk just fine and read easily. God did make your child for something special! That is a wonderful realization. I am praying for the health of your family! :D

Both of you have me tearing up here - what a precious gift to realize that God loves us as we are and has a special plan for each of us. Thank you so much for sharing!

I'm tearing up too. What a precious, brave thing for your ds to say, Lynn! I too loved the book Tirzah last year, and probably wouldn't have found it on my own. When I think of struggles my dc or I are having, I always remind myself that God chose Moses (who had speech difficulties by his own admonition) to speak on behalf of the Isrealites to Pharaoh. He used David, the smallest boy in that family, to kill Goliath. He used Rahab, a known prostitute, to help His spies escape. Jesus chose a bunch of fisherman by trade to be His disciples - and the list could go on and on. Your ds sounds like he has a heart of gold. Nothing is more beautiful or useful to God than a heart full of love for Him. God definitely has big plans in mind for your son. :D Thanks for sharing this special moment with us. Your ds sounds like an incredible person already. :)

In Christ,
Julie
