okay... i wrote a couple days ago about the read alouds in Preparing coinciding with the History portion. my daughter would be in Bigger Basics at that point so i was just going to do the storytime for preparing that year and go back to the Bigger storytime when we would do CTC History the next year. but then i think, if i have this right, the read alouds in CTC ALSO coincide with the History for CTC.
so i guess she would never get back to the Bigger read alouds and i hate for her to miss all the good books. i was thinking, maybe i should start her with the story-time while i do the HIstory side from the very beginning. has this worked for others?
see, i am going to combine my son and daughter, who are 16 months apart , for the History portion and they would each do own basics which includes story time.
my son is almost 6 and daughter 4.5 and would be doing Little Hearts together for the History part.
so if this makes any sense... does adding storytime to the History portion sound feasible? i am glad i looked ahead.
My daughter is in the middle of the "X" unit of LHTH. Yeah! we are almost done . she really wants to be a big girl like her brother.
Thanks Jenn

Re: storytime history read alouds in CTC
I think you can always add read alouds to the day, if you have the time and the inclination.
The Storytime plans are short and sweet, so I don't think that would be hard to do. I probably wouldn't want to get into doing Storytime plans that were several years ahead of the guide we were in though, just because it would be difficult for the dc to take as much from the plans. I totally understand your not wanting to miss these great books. Another option when dc are older and can read well independently is to have them read the books on their own for fun or listen to them on audio. We've covered all of the HOD books suggestions for Storytime in one of three ways - reading them aloud, the dc reading them independently, or the dc listening to them on audio as they follow along in the book. Blackstone audio and Amazon have an excellent selection of audio books. HTH!
