Write with the Best??

Post by playschool » Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:48 pm

For those using this program how is the program going for you and your dc? I printed out a section of it that was free online and was very impressed by the content. Just wondering how many of you are using it and your experiences with it so far.

I am using it with my 11 yo dd and my almost 10 yo ds, and it is going well. This is their first experience analyzing and considering what makes good writing, so I have to keep this in mind.
When we did the first unit, I had them do a lot of it on their own. However, in the second unit I have been walking them through things a little more. They tend to be able to do a lot of their work independently, but I saw that they needed more direction until they get the hang of things. Also, since some of this is older, classic writing, some of the language needs to be explained, etc. I think it is going to be very good for them. I think it challenges them, and gently introduces them to writing that they would not normally enjoy on their own.
