...How did it go?

I am fiddling around with the idea of beginning LHTH with my 2.5 year old, basically just for fun and an intro to the bible and Jesus. My 5.5 year old keeps wanting for her little sister do have school time so she can help teach her sister.
I thought about starting LHTH a short while ago and ended up just letting the thought go but, now it seems it might be kind of fun.
My little one knows her letters and numbers, up to about #20, and she knows her colors and basic shapes as well (thanks to big sis!). I thought that this might be a good indication that she will be quite ready for the activities in LHTH. I imagine that the bible reading will be above her but, it can't hurt to share it with her anyway, right?
I would love to hear if others have done, or are currrently doing, Little Hands with their kiddos that are 2ish.

I'm doing it with my 2.5yo and she loves it.... Even the Bible isn't over her head! She also wants a memory verse like her sisters so I pick one of the key ideas each week to have her learn and tell someone. (Like "God made everything" or "Noah built the ark") but she's having a lot of fun.

We had great fun with it! I started last fall with Allison (4.5) and Garret (2.5), and we'll be finishing this week. Now, for the first few months, Garret didn't do anything that involved writing, cutting, painting. He was ready to run around and play. He sure grew into those things as the year went on though!

If I were just doing it with a 2 yo, I think I'd go with the idea I've seen Julie share. Do the fingerplay and read the BIble story every day and then pick another box or 2 so that you slow it down to last longer. That should still give you 15-20 min of "school". I bet your girls would just love it! So, I say, go for it and take it slow.

My middle daughter in LHTH will be three next month so she's on the older end of two. I'm amazed at how much your two year old already knows! She could totally do it. I think LHTH is awesome for teaching letter sounds and great intro to daily bible time.

I'm doing LHTH with my 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old, and it's going great! My two year old loves the program just as much as her older sister, and can do most of the activities. There are a couple of things that are above her skill level, such as cutting with scissors, but for the most part its a good fit for her.

I think since we are really starting to coast along quite well in LHFHG with my 5 year old, I can now consider adding some fun in with my little one. I know she would adore the fingerplays, the letter activities and certainly any of the hands-on goodies! I am really excited about introducing her to the bible, basically for the first time. Yay!
My 5 year old keeps asking me if her sister knows who God is so, I have some gentle pressure to introduce my little one to Him.
So, I think we will give it a whirl and just have some fun with it. My 5 year old is going to be so excited when I tell her, she wants to be the teacher!

I think you could start with a 2.5 year old. It sounds like your 2 year old would do well. Something to keep in mind though... at what point do you think you will want to begin LHFHG with your 2 year old? If you finish LHTH too soon, then what will you do between LHTH and LHFHG?

I'm excited about this idea - I think Carrie is doing this with Beau this year as well. I'm also planning on starting this routine after I get my feet wet doing CTC for the first few units (along with Beyond). My little 2 yo is chomping at the bit to do school and fits the description skillwise you gave of your little one, Candice. I think your little one sounds ready for LHTH, and it will probably be a blast to do! One thing to consider looking down the road - there's no need to rush through LHTH in a year with a 2 yo, even if they are ready for it. Stretching LHTH out so my little one doesn't start LHFHG until he's 4 1/2 appeals to me. That worked well for my little Riley (starting LHFHG half-speed when he was 4 1/2 yo), so I think it will work well with little Emmett and probably with your little one too. Other than that consideration - I'd blast off with LHTH, Candice - your little one is sure to enjoy the ride!

That sounds right on! We will certainly take it slowly, and focus on making precious memories and having fun!
I think spreading it out over a 2 year period will work just fine here.
