He is getting sick - pretty fast. He was fine this morning. Now he has a climbing temp, congestion, cough, fever and he just told me his belly hurt. With my OCD and health anxiety, I am really teetering on the edge. I knew this was inevitable, but gosh, I wasn't ready for it so soon. Any prayers we could get are greatly appreciated. It is so hard to see little ones suffer.

Aw, poor baby. I'm praying for your sweetie & for you. My sons were ill recently, then my husband and then I got it. We're all doing fine now but it wore me out. I hope it goes quickly.

There is nothing worse for a mommy's heart than to see you little ones sick. I'll be praying for him to get better as quickly as he got sick, for no one else to get sick and peace for mommy.

Thank you all so much. Because of my OCD and Health Anxiety, this one is really hitting me hard. I dont' know who to worry about most! My younger son, who has the illness, or my older who could get it. My older has a strong immune system (meaning he has not been sick with more than allergies and 2 sinus infections since he was 4. When he was 4, he had a case of the flu that almost killed him. I am terrified of the cytokine storm with him, and the news reports of kids who die rapidly of swine flu have me even more upset. I am trying so hard here to just NOT be afraid, but I am struggling. Struggling.
Your prayers are so appreciated. I know I am not the only mom worrying right now. There are moms all over the country - especially those with kids in ps who are likely exposed more often.

I can relate to the anxiety you feel about getting sick (or your children getting sick). I thought I was just a "little worrier" until I started loosing regular sleep and avoiding things like church (crowds) because of it, and then I realized that it's out of control. I have such a physical reaction, that once all the adrenaline from the panic comes, it's very hard to calm down.
Here are 2 things that I hang onto:
Phil 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. I committed this to memory, and recite it slowly, focusing on each and every part, over and over, until I feel that "peace which passeth all understanding" (as my childhood minister used to quote from KJV).
Once, when a had a child at the dr for stomach flu, I groaned saying, "How long will it be before the rest of my kids get this?" The dr was a grandmother, who (very maternally) said, "Honey, don't worry about your other kids until they actually get sick. They probably won't and you will have wasted all this time worrying." I realized HOW VERY MUCH time I DO spend worrying about things that never happen, and I got angry that I've wasted so much of my life on that when it could have been filled with happiness and peace!! (and my other kids never caught that stomach flu, either)
It's not easy, especially when there is a physical reaction happening in your body. But these things have helped. I'm praying fervently for both you and your family!

We just all had strep throat here - I can empathize.

I pray your little guy gets better as soon as possible, and try not to worry too much - those little ones are more resilient than one would first think.
In Christ,
Julie

mariaw,
Thank you for sharing what your doctor said. MY mom tells me this all the time - that I worry about things that often never even come to frutition. It is true. Thank you for reminding me of this today. I need to focus on the little right now and just do all I can to make sure the rest of us keep hands washed, etc. I can cross the other bridges when I get to them (myself or others getting sick!). thank you!
Julie, I hope you are all feeling better now. Strep is no fun at all!

Praying your little guy feels better quickly and that no one else gets sick! Also, that you will feel His Peace envelope you in the midst of all of this.

Well, we can now add older ds and my husband to this prayer request. My husband has asthma too which scares me so much! My youngest fella is definitely on the mend. This illness, for him, has been pretty "mild." Now, older son has the stuffy nose and fever. DH just can't breathe. Me, I am the mom...I can't get sick. It is NOT allowed.

Rebecca,
So sorry you're dealing with this right now, but look at it this way--maybe you're 'getting it out of the way' early and can coast the rest of the cold/flu season! I have anxiety about illness myself, so I do understand. Saying prayers here that you won't get it, and that everyone else will recovery quickly.

Rebecca,
I am praying for you and your family. Just be encouraged that He knows your needs and will give you what you need to care for your kiddos. Be sure to allow yourselves time to rest and refresh.
Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks everyone. We are hanging in there. Little fella is doing MUCH better - but he has a nagging cough. I got him some mucinex and it seems to be helping. He has been fever free all day. Older is feeling fine, other than nasal congestion. He has a really low grade fever, but doesn't act like he feels bad at all. He is playing and acting himself.
Dh came home from work early today, sick and has been on the couch asleep for a couple of hours now. I am sick too, but no rest for momma...
There won't be much to "review" this week in the "week in review" section (LOL) unless you include laying on the couch and taking medicine!

Oh I am sorry. Praying for you all to get better soon. It always seem to work that way. You spend all that time taking care of them and then you end up sick too.
