4 weeks in!

Post by 3sweeties » Sat Sep 12, 2009 9:04 am

Just wanted to give a BIG THANKS to everyone involved with HOD, especially Carrie and Julie!!! We are really enjoying Bigger and I am loving what my DS is learning daily and am especially thrilled that we focus on Bible first thing every morning and have no problem fitting it in (something we struggled with last year)! I love that I have time to do our art project, notebooking in history and science, and there is virtually NO complaining about LA or Math! :D On another post, I shared that DS had to give an example of a metaphor in Poetry and after he did, he said, "I could write a poem!" WOW!!! I only wish we had found HOD sooner for him, but I look forward to using it from the beginning with DS2 next year for K!

Anyway, I just wanted to share...I am so excited to continue our year! :D

Jessica - I'm so glad you're thrilled with BHFHG! :D We loved it too, and I'll be doing it again soon with our next ds - I'm really looking forward to it. :) The Bible really helped my ds and I have some heart to heart talks. It paved the way for deeper study in PHFHG, and I'm sure that will have helped us get ready for CTC. Isn't it a blessing to be getting all of those things you mentioned done in a manageable amount of time? I too have few complaints about school, other than my oldest is concerned about high school - he keeps asking for Carrie to write for that too. I tell him to quit pressuring her, but it is my heart's desire for her to continue writing if the Lord lays it on her heart too! :D My dc and I are sick with strep throat. Today was going to be our first day of school, but the doctor said absolutely no school until the fevers are gone. We are all so bummed. We were excited to start today! Oh well, I guess the Lord is giving us a few days to finish up some loose ends around the house as we recover. I'm so happy for you that you are off and running with Bigger Hearts - many satisfying days await you! :D :D :D

Jessica - I'm so glad that you found HOD this year for Bigger! :D I know exactly how you feel about wishing you had found it sooner...that was me last year. We had a wonderful year with Bigger! You are in for a great time that I know will be spiritually significant for you and your son. And, next year in Preparing your son will get to write poetry. That has come to be Grant's favorite thing this year. I bet your son will love it, too.

Julie - I'm so sorry that you and your boys have strep! Yuck! I was going to send you a scolding message about being on here in the morning - especially on your 1st day. Hopefully your boys' eager anticipation will just make your 1st day all that much better. :D So, take a nap and get well soon!

I know! I was thinking the same thing - the ladies are going to be giving me a tough time for being on the board in the morning on the first day of school. But, I get a free pass since I couldn't start school, right? Seriously, the board is about the only up side to being sick. It's the one thing I can still do that I enjoy! Everyone has strep except for Riley and my Dad (that's including all of my family and Carrie's too) . So, this stuff is hearty! It's probably good this happens from time to time again, as I remember what an amazing blessing good health can be! I hope you are doing well, Kathleen - give the kiddos an HOD hug from me. :D

Julie

So glad to hear it, Julie! :D I guess you and Carrie needed an extra week to breathe before you dive in, huh? I bet Riley is jealous now...that bubblegum medicine is good stuff!!

:D Kathleen

BTW...I wouldn't have been too hard on you for being on the board. I love seeing you here, but you did say to get after you if you were on in the morning.

Jessica,

I am so glad to hear that your son in thriving with Bigger Hearts. I loved the great Biblical character trait discussions we had in Bigger Hearts. :D They always seemed so timely for our kiddos (and me too).

We pray that you continue to enjoy Bigger Hearts and that it will bless your little guy this year. :D Thanks for sharing an update!

Blessings,
Carrie
