Intro and a question

Hi,

I'm Leanne, in Sydney Australia :) I have two daughters, 8 and 11. We are currently using an eclectic mix of curriculum, but have used HOD in the past (Bigger Hearts in 2007)

I'm looking at Preparing Hearts next year for my then 9 year old and CTC for my then 12 year old. We're pretty established with our LA and Math programs and I really don't want to change these, so I'm looking to just do the history and science portions of HOD, but I'm also a box checker and it will probably bug me to only do parts of HOD.

Leanne I think you are saying that since you will be using different LA and math will it bother you to have those boxes unchecked and the answer is no. The reason why is the box actually says do this or your own program. :D I use different LA and Math for some of my kids too and I know exactly what you mean by needing to check the box and do it all. I am exactly like that myself. But I just read it and it reminds me to do my own program even king of breaks it down for me as I follow the same basic pattern. I hope that explains it. How exciting you are in Australia using HOD. :D If I am way off track and completely missed your question just let me know. I could be reading you wrong but I am thinking that is what you are asking.

Oh and welcome!

Leanne,
Welcome to the HOD board! I am a box checker too :D . I agree with water2wine on the boxes. We use a different math and I just pencil in my lesson number in the box for math. Then I check it...yea! We do use R&S grammar and Cheerful Cursive, but we are on different lesson numbers than our guide. I pencil in and check that too. So no worries. I think you will find it easy to substitue your LA and math you are using now.

Blessings,
Cindy
