Got Little Hearts today!
Wow...that was fast shipping!!! And I definitely think this history and Science is more my son's speed. Bless his heart - he is great in the basics, but History and Science seemed to be flying over his head. I will update more when we have gotten some time in the manual. Thanks for all the advice and support.

Yay for box day!! We've tried many science/history programs, so know the feeling of finding something which works.

Re: Got Little Hearts today!
We will be using left side Little Hearts and Right side Beyond....so it should be interesting. LOL I had so long with my manuals before school started and now I am having to jump right in with Little Hearts. We are doing the 1st grade set too, so it isn't exactly as written in the manual. I am trying to get myself together tonight and hopefully have something ready for tomorrow from the Little Hearts Guide. I hope this helps and doesn't end up confusing the little fella!
It is hard to have a child advanced in the basics...it tends to make you think they are capable of more in everything else too.
Oh well...lesson learned and moving on, right?

SOunds like you are doing what we are doing. I really wanted to do the history portion of Little Hearts, but my young 1st grader was finishing phonics and ready for Beyond Math, etc...we've been doing it for 3 weeks now and it is working well. Sticky noted work grade to keep your spot in each box!!
I think you will not be disappointed.

Re: Got Little Hearts today!
Oh good, i am glad to hear from someone who is doing the same thing as us! We are starting today and I am pleased as punch with the slower pace. Sometimes I forget that my little one is still a little one. It is hard when they are reading so well and doing mid-1st grade math at 5 to remember that they are still just little fellas in other respects. Even when I got into Little Hearts last night, I found myself second guessing and trying to go more academic. However, that is NOT the CM way. I feel like I have a tendancy to push academics with my kids and that sort of takes the fun away when you are 5 years old! I prayed about it and almost immediately got my answer that "he needs to have fun in school...he is not even 6 yet!" Loud and clear, Lord, thank you!
