Real life with HOD! WOW!

Post by butterfly113 » Sun Aug 30, 2009 3:01 pm

This week was just crazy! But so simple with HOD! Let me explain.... Long story short...
My mom had to have her 2nd cataract surgery on Monday... I was up at 3am and gone all day. Once I got home, it was about dinner and then early bed.
Tuesday... We started Day 1....... proceeded as usual.
Wed, early afternoon DR appt for Caterpillar.... so we did about half a day...
Thurs continued...... Friday continued.... and all along on Friday was on the phone with my best friend driving 3 hours home as her mother was ill and going home to be with the LORD. Saturday... we finished our work, did about half a day.... and our week is done. Was able to go see my friend, keep up life around the house... you get the picture! Thank you HOD! I know I couldn't have gotten this much done without such a great curriculum! Just love it more and more everyday... Yet I must say... "Lord, can you please step on the brake a little at our house! ;0) "

Butterfly, I'm enjoying your blog since you are one week ahead of us in Preparing. I can see what you did and it gives me ideas! You are doing a great job with your son! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Butterfly - I've been relieved many times that HOD can be mobile when necessary. You had a full week, and yet were able to complete school - we've found this to be true with HOD at our house too. I'm glad you shared how you went about this, because your life is reflective of all of our lives. The reality is life gets busy, health problems arise, and things go wrong - but school still has to be a priority for us as homeschool moms. HOD has made that possible for me, and I'm glad it has for you too! :D

Butterfly is it not just a life saver. 8) We never would have had anything close to normal last year without HOD. It's amazing how you really can still get your day done come what may. I had to laugh at your comment about the brakes on your little house. I have prayer more than once "Lord please no more pruning!" Sometimes it can seem like enough but He does have our best in mind. Glad to see you are keeping your sense of humor and your joy. Two very important things. We found it to be life proof as well. Praying with you that there will be less times to prove that for you but rejoicing with you that it is blessing you too. :D

butterfly113,

It sounds like you had quite the week with surgeries, doctor's appointments, and your dear friend going through a very tough time. I am so glad that you were able to be there in each of those situations for the ones that you love. :D

Life is so full of those types of circumstances and every year has its own unforeseen challenges. I used to think that I would like to know the future so that I could better plan for it, but now I realize that each day has enough of its own challenges that it would be overwhelming to know what was ahead. Blessedly, the Lord gives us enough grace each day to handle the challenges that the particular day holds.

I'm so glad that you were able to continue on with school and didn't have to shut down completely! We've found the same to be true at our house too when the storms of life come. It helps me so much not to have to plan before teaching, otherwise the teaching would be harder to get done! I also find it helps my kiddos to have a comforting routine in place with HOD that keeps their world somewhat intact. :D

I pray that your mom is recovering well and that your friend will get through the tough week ahead.

Blessings,
Carrie
