Bigger Timeline
Bigger Timeline
I have a question about the timeline for Bigger. How did you set it up so that the squares are big enough that your child can put everything in the square? Any ideas or pictures would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Bigger Timeline
Here's what we did and it made the boxes just big enough for him without the timeline becoming too cumbersome.

Re: Bigger Timeline
My son is 10, so he is able to draw very small and write small. Here is his folder:

Re: Bigger Timeline
OK, I am copying your idea, Daisy. I was worried about the size of the boxes. I am SO glad you are doing the same programs as I am this year. You are a wealth of information!
Rebecca, Your child's timeline looks great (that is what I had done initially), but my youngest may struggle with the small boxes.

Re: Bigger Timeline
OK, with your inspiration, here is what I ended up doing. I printed off three larger charts like Daisy's on cardstock. Then I taped them together on the back with packing tape. It makes a tri-fold like Daisy's. but I did it without the file folders. Make sure you leave a sliver of air between the pages as you tape to make folding easier, and then I used my paper cutter to cut a sliver off of the third page that folds to the inside. I am leaving the cover (back of the first page folded in) blank until we decide how to decorate it. Daisy, do you need another row on the bottom of yours? I have not done Bigger before; I could have counted wrong. It is also late. If you do, you still have room at the bottom below your table.

Re: Bigger Timeline
A couple of folks asked me for the files of this timeline so here it is...

I did add another row so there would be 12. I guess I just read it as 11 rows plus the one you write the dates in. It may not matter but I changed it anyway. Hope this helps someone.

Re: Bigger Timeline
We just started our first year of HoD this week, and I came on here to see if I could find a visual for how the timeline was to look. Thanks for the pics and links! I used Daisy's templates and tri-fold idea. Thought I'd bump this for others.

Re: Bigger Timeline
Thanks Ladies for all your great ideas and pictures. I actually combined a few ideas...I think....I took Daisy's three fold idea...put it on card stock and attached the middle page to a file folder...so it all folds up and fits nicely inside a file folder for extra protection from the two year old..seriously.
So thank you so much!

Re: Bigger Timeline
I used 4 manila file folders. I opened them up and taped them together with clear packing tape on the back. This way it was large enough for the drawing, but easily folded. Also, the folder file weight made them much more durable.
