Geography in Bigger Hearts?..

Hi,

I am curious how geography is covered in Bigger Hearts and in future books. I really want my children to do "map work" but not sure how to incorporate that? I have the Map CD from Geo Matters and can print out maps but..I am just curious how geography is covered in the books and if I should get anything, not listed in the packages pages, that would help in our geography studies.

Thanks so much,

Kim Carr (HS mom of 7)

So far in just the first week alone with Bigger we have

1. Traced the continents with our fingers and named them all.
2. Created our own globe by placing index cards with the continents & oceans written out on a balloon or ball.
3. Copied a map of Columbus' travels from Journeys Through Time

I had a 2nd grade map skills book that I had planned on using for fun (picked it up at a garage sale) but have since realized we just won't be needed it. Carrie, has come up with FUN ways to do geography.

And it continues like Daisy said throughout the program. I see it now continuing in Preparing as well. So map work does get covered. So one less thing to plan HOD has covered. :D

And I guess I could mention that my oldest is doing CTC and there is an entire book dedicated to geography. She mapped out the country of Turkey yesterday. ;-)
