Hi,
I am starting LHFHG on Monday, and am a little nervous.. My daughter is 5 and very hyper, possible ADD, and this will be my first time HS, so it is all new to us, but we belong to a Co-op on Tuesdays, and I was wondering if anyone HS 4 days instead of 5, and how will this work with the schoolyear, how much longer will it make it? I am starting a little early, so I hope this helps with scheduling. Thanks for the input!!

If you do 4 days/week instead of 5 it will take you 40 weeks to complete instead of 32 weeks. We started LHFHG 2 weeks ago (using the 1st grade option) and we are really enjoying it. I think you will really like it. We are doing it 5 days/week, but that can always change.
Enjoy!!

We do school 4 days a week; we school year-round and take off when we need to (I don't plan out the calendar in advance). If you want to take a long summer break then you can just save those last several weeks of LHFHG for the following school-year, and then start Beyond after that. I know there are people here that do that, especially if the child is on the young end of the guide. We don't take a long summer break (just a little bit of time here and there for vacations, etc), so we just work on things until they are done, and then "start the next thing". Either way you do it, is fine!
Have a great first day!

LHFHG is already broken into small lesson chunks, but remember that you can break the lessons up even more as you need to to suit your dd's attention span, and put them in whatever order works best. It may take you some time to figure out the best schedule for her, but you will find it! We start with the top left box because that frames several of the other lessons, but after that the order is flexible, I think. We also aim to "do school" 4 days a week and just pick up where we left off the following week.

We did LHFHG 4 days a week and just took longer to go through it too. It worked really well!

One of my dc we did LHFHG is king of wiggling.

We put as much movement in as we could. We started by marching to the Corresponding Music as we sang it. Then, we did the Bible box, doing up the actions big. We then sat and read the history cuddled on the couch together, and next the rhyme with actions. The history activity came next. Then, after completing the left side of the plans, he had a play break. I set the timer for a bit (I think around 30 minutes). This was active play time with toys. After that, we did the Storytime on the couch together, and worked through the rest of the right side of the plans. As the year progressed, he was more able to do it all in a row, and eventually we did it all without the playbreak in the middle. Two things really helped my active ds - alternating active things with less active things, and moving along briskly with the plans (rather than me drawing out discussions by adding more of my own questions, or rather than me wanting his projects to look a certain way before they were "good enough", etc.). LHFHG handled my ds's busy personality beautifully! I think you and your dd will love it once you get into a rhythm with it!
In Christ,
