Need a different short book to combine with Louis Braille

I was going to have my ds do the Jed Smith book for his first book for DITHOR for the Biography genre, but looking it over while I think he could read it and understand it I think it would be challenging for him and it looks overwhelming to him. He is just coming out of ps where reading has not been a very positive experience for him. I really don't want the first book he does in DITHOR to be on the high end of his ability. I think he would love the Louis Braille Book, but our library doesn't have the Thomas Edison book that Carrie recommends. I am looking for another 5 day book for him to read to go along with the 10 day Louis Braille book. Any suggestions? I have the book list, but I am having trouble figuring out which books would be short enough and not too easy for him.

What about a Diane Stanley biography? Great illustrations but meaty content and short enough to be done in 5 days. The books are also popular enough that they should be carried by your library.
Here's a link to looking at them.

Scroll down through them. There are titles like Good Queen Bess, Michelangelo, Peter the Great, Joan of Arc, Bard of Avon, etc.

Daisy gave you great suggestions! You could also check out the Helen Keller book linked here:

My boys loved that one too, especially after reading Louis Braille.
Blessings,
Carrie

My daughter just finished a five day book, she is 11.
It was Fanny Crosby- Queen of Gospel Songs. It is a suggested book from CTC.
She enjoyed it very much. It could be for a boy or girl.
