First Day of School with HOD!!!
I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you Carrie Austin for this curriculum!!! Our first day with my 7 year old daughter in BLHFHG and my 4 year old son and 3 year old daughter in LHTH was so successful and wonderful that I am still in astonishment. I have a very active son, and we were considering putting him in a private pre-school this year just so I could have time with my second grader for school. Last year was one problem after another. My oldest daughter would get frustrated because she couldn't concentrate and school became such a chore for both of us...so many tears from her. This year, The Lord led me down the most interesting pathway to HOD and I am ever so thankful! This morning we started out with LHTH for the 3 and 4 year olds. My 7 year old was the "teacher's assistant". Then we stopped for a short break to have a "laundry party", (somehow I've tricked my sweet dc into looking forward to those every other day) anyway, we started BLHFHG and we were able to do the entire left side of the page with the little ones participating!!! The history reading did become boring to them so they wandered off to the kitchen table for drawing and playdough that I had laid out for them...then they came back and joined in! Amazing. So, to top that off, we finished the left side of the page before lunch leaving only the right side which I planned on doing during the little ones' nap time. We did Language Arts and Math (requires serious concentration for my easily distracted dd) during their nap and then they woke up in time to listen to our biography reading. My daughter finished her school day reading to the little ones her selection from The Beginners Bible. I couldn't ask for a better day. What a blessing! To top it all off my 2nd grader told me that she "didn't like 1st grade...but 2nd grade is awesome!" I know that every day will not go as smoothly, but I am so thankful that the Lord has given us the tools that we need now to have a successful homeschool that glorifies Him and really helps our family grow and learn together.

Re: First Day of School with HOD!!!
Congrats on a terrific first day!!
How amazing that your little ones joined in for some of the left side. It sounds like you have a great plan for getting through your school day. I have a 2 year-old boy so I understand your need to do school while they nap, that's what I do!! Keep up the good work.

How wonderful! So glad you are loving it. I wish I had thought of that laundry party! It sounds like you are a great mommy.
Glad you found HOD! It has been a huge blessing to us and I know it will be for you as well. Sounds like you are off to a terrific start! May God continue to bless you.

Heather,
It sounds like you had a wonderful first day!
I'm so glad that your kiddos enjoyed their school day and that you did as well! I'm praising the Lord with you tonight on His faithfulness to your family.
Thank you for sharing your day with us. It fuels my fire to keep on writing our future guides, when so many other duties call for my time, yet I know the Lord has His hand in this!
Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Heather!
What a wonderful report, thanks for sharing! I think one of the keys that stood out to me in your day was starting out with your little guys. I could almost feel how you intentionally made your little ones feel special and important with LHTH before moving on to do more serious schoolwork with your older daughter. An older mom I know who has 8 children told me the best advice with toddlers/preschoolers is filling up their "love cups" first thing in the morning. I know my little guy can really feel when I do this
and he really feels it when I don't.
. Thanks for reminding me and all of us, that our younger ones are every bit as important as our older ones. We ALL know this, but sometimes we forget to show it with our time and attention.
Thanks!
Heather

By all means, then Carrie, we need to keep praising! I would be LOST if you stopped writing guides!!
Glad you had a great day - hope this week has been just as good!
