Starting the year out idea...

Post by sted » Fri Aug 14, 2009 2:35 pm

Hi everyone,

Wow, do I ever find everyone's posts so helpful with everything from scheduling to dictation!

I just thought I'd share an idea we are doing to start our year out. I wasn't going to start new school (we are reviewing Math and Reading this summer) until September but as soon as the HOD box arrived my kids wanted to dive in! I didn't feel totally organized to start everything yet so what we've been doing is a box or two each day to get the hang of each subject. That way, I hope we will be ready to go in September and both mom and the kids will know what to expect!

That's kind of how we started out. It took us about 3 weeks just to do the first unit. We were just too busy with canning/freezing produce then. Now things have slowed down so we we have finally been able to move along at normal pace. I think it was helpful to do just a box or two at a time when we first started just to get familiar with the program.

I like that idea, Shannon! Getting to know each box in a leisurely way is a neat way to start. I'm so glad your dc are excited to start! :D
