New & starting "Preparing" in a couple of weeks

Post by djmom » Tue Aug 11, 2009 6:09 am

Hello everyone :)

My name is Charlotte. My dh and I have been married 12yrs. We have a ds9 who will be starting Preparing on the 24th. We previously used MFW (K-2) and some WP(3rd). I have such peace about our decision to use HOD this year. It's the first time I've felt completely content with the curriculum we'll be using. I believe I've been healed from the "grass is greener" syndrome YAY! :D lol. I plan on sticking with HOD as long as guides are written and am already looking forward to each and every year!

I want to add, I've been "lurking" on the board for some time now and you ladies are some of the most kind and gentle people I've seen on any board I've been on. I know I'm going to feel very comfortable here. So thank you for that.

Hi Charlotte,

Great to have you here. My oldest son is almost 9 and he is doing Bigger with his 7 year old brother this year. My little guy and I are doing LHTH. I can't wait to do Preparing with them next year! Of course we just started Bigger yesterday, but we're already loving it! I will be looking forward to hearing about your experience with Preparing with your son. I hope you share often!

We used MFW Adventures last year. It was our first year homeschooling. HOD is a breath of fresh air, isn't it? So totally planned, organized, and ready to go. But, most of all Christ-centered in everything you do. Love it!

Hi Charlotte!

We are on week 5 of Preparing, and have also used WP and MFW. I totally relate to what you're saying about being cured of the "grass is greener" syndrome. You are really going to enjoy HOD! Welcome!

We used PHFHG last year and loved it. The one year sweep did so much to teach my ds about the flow of history. He still has his timeline up - we may just leave it up as a ready reference for the order of history. :D Anyway, welcome to the HOD Board, Charlotte! Thanks for the comments about the HOD Board - I totally agree. :D

Hi Charlotte,
Welcome! We are finishing the 4th unit of Preparing this week after a week off for vacation and a week off for illness. My kiddos love their new curriculum and so do I! Hope you enjoy it.

Charlotte,

I just wanted to pop-in and welcome you too! :D We pray that you will enjoy Preparing Hearts as much as we did when we used it last year with our son! I had to smile, as we still have our timeline up too. None of us can bear to take it down either. We'll likely leave it up as a visual reference as we head into CTC this year. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Charlotte, and welcome! I'm doing Preparing this year too, getting started in a couple of week. I have been pouring over the manual and books and we are very excited to get started! I'll look forward to seeing you around as we go on this journey together.

I'm lucky...I started with Bigger last year after pulling my dd from ps and so I have yet to have any interest in any other curriculums. Saves me a lot of $$!! :D
