Good morning! We are starting today............

Post by christyg » Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:06 am

Good morning ladies! Well, we are starting today! This is our very first day homeschooling! We are doing kindergarten with my daughter who is 5 (will be 6 on Sept 1). I have been so nervous about this day. I know that God has led us to do this, but I have struggled in the last couple of weeks with all of those thoughts we all get from time to time like "why am I doing this, my life would probably be so much easier if I would just send her to school?" But, I know those thoughts are not from the Lord, and I have tried to focus on why we made the decision in the first place. So, we are excited this morning and praying that everything goes smoothly. Please pray for us this morning! I will let you all know how it goes...............

Thanks,
Christy :D

I am praying for you both! The first day is always a mix of excitement and nerves, but it will be great. (even if it's not so great!--the last two years our first day of school has been challenging due to finding that routine again, but it ALWAYS falls into place and it is so worth it.) I will be starting next Wed and it is my sixth year, but I have learned to go into the day with a laid back attitude! I never know how it is going to go--when I expect it to be great, it's not so great and when I expect it to be challenging, it's easy!
Have a great first day! I love homeschooling--challenges and all! Enjoy your kids and enjoy the journey!

I just prayed for you that it will go well! :D Congrats on your decision to homeschool. :) My best day of school is usually not the first day - it's probably about a week in or more - so if that's the case for you - no worries! It just keeps getting better doing HOD. :)

Ok, we have just finished our first day in LHFHG. I have a question..................We were done in 70 minutes, is that normal? I know that the guide says the average is 90 minutes for LHFHG. We didn't rush anything. I think that she is just ahead of what we did today. I still think that LHFHG is the best placement for her. I think that she really enjoyed it. I think that it was just a little weird for us, since we both aren't used to structured learning. I have been at home with her since she was born, and she has always learned through just normal playtime and fun reading. So, I think that after we get used to the more structured aspect of it, we will do well with it. All in all, I think that we can call it a successful first day. :D Thanks so much for all of the prayers!

Christy :)

We also started this morning. We are doing Beyond this year and today has been wonderful. We started our morning out celebrating first grade by having breakfast with one of her friends. It really helped get her excited about starting school up again. Have a great first week!

I think 70 minutes is fine, some days have a little more action packed into them - some a little less. The adverage day will take about 9o minutes .Im glad you had a great first day- we loved LHFHG

HOORAY! It sounds like your first day went off without a hitch. :D When we did LHFHG, the average day took us an hour and a half, but other days took less, and some more. So, you're doing super! :) We used to be less structured before beginning LHFHG too, but I have been so thankful for the structure in all of the HOD guides, especially as we move through the upper guides. I think that structure is the reason we are homeschooling so stress-free using several HOD programs at once. I know I have all the bases covered, and the dc know what to expect. Congrats on a good start - here's to another good day tomorrow! :)

Christy,

It sounds like you had a terrific first day! :D We pray that you and your little honey will enjoy LHFHG as much as we did last year with our own little guy.

 Blessings,
Carrie
