Preparing copywork notebook question...

Post by MommyInTraining » Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:52 am

In the intro to Preparing it says students will need a Common Place Book for their copywork and it also says that daily cursive handwriting practice is scheduled from a variety of copywork sources. Is this the same copywork that goes into the Common Place Book, or does the student need a separate notebook for the cursive handwriting practice copywork?

Thanks!

Terri :D

The extra copywork comes in different subjects, and they just go in that subject's folder. Like, I have an Independent History binder where all the pictures from Draw and Write Through History go, and the copywork from that book goes in there as well. Sometimes, there is copywork for Science, and I put that in the science notebook. So, to answer your question, the TM says specifically when something goes in the Common Place Book. And my dd has chosen to copy a couple of her favorite RLS poems in there as well (I thought that was a good place for them). It's supposed to be a place to keep quotes that are meaningful to you.

I will say that I found a great vocabulary notebook at Lakeshore Learning that is perfect for the vocabulary work!!

(After answering a few of your posts about supplies :D ) I think you will see once you get into it what will work for your family. I just made sure I had 3-4 composition books (dd likes these better than spiral), a few spiral notebooks, a few binders (we had these from last year), and a box of page protectors. Personally, I like to have everything together for one subject, so I prefer the binder/page protector method for the subjects that require different types of paper (blank, lined, etc).

You are going to love Preparing!! My parents were teasing my dd last night, "What did you do (bad) to have to go to summer school??" She said, "I LOVE school! I want to do it everyday!!" :D
