HOORAY for our first day!

Today was our the first day of HS for our 5 year old and 6 year old. Our 6 year old attended our local private school for a few months last year but we pulled her and her 11 year old brother out in January. We pieced together a bit of this and that to make it through to the end of the year. My dear homeschooling friend here in town recommended HOD to me. She doesn't use it but told me that she had heard wonderful things about it. Every time I would look at other curriculum I found myself drawn back to HOD. No matter what I looked at I felt like the Lord was leading us back to HOD.
So, I finally decided that this is where we belong. Today the girls did their first day of school with LHFHG. They LOVED it! Our 6 year old is more advanced than our 5 year old but I can tell that they are both going to do just fine with this. When we did the math we glued little beans onto the paper for each number and they just loved it! They've counted them over and over again. The rhyme and song were a hit too. 6 yr old wanted very much to just run straight through her math book and write, write, write. She became upset when I told her she couldn't do the entire book in one day. So, I got out one of her little practice books and told her that she could work in it. That made her very happy!
I think the amount of work was just right for their attention span. Neither of them got bored but they did say "Is that all? Can we do MORE?" a few times. I'm sure I won't be hearing that every day!
Our son will be doing CTC with DITHOR. He wanted to go to the local public school .....and it is suppose to be a good school....but my heart just kept leading me back to HOD. He isn't excited about it but does say that the books look "pretty cool". I think he will love it after we get started.
Thank you, Carrie.....and Mike!

I met 3 of my children in the delivery room, 2 in China and one was an added blessing when I married my hubby in 2003.
