School supply shopping time??

My friend, Maria, introduced me to this promising curriculum. We decided to take the plunge. We'll be doing Beyond and Bigger this year (but only 1 left page - still being determined as to which one). Her dd (my dd's best friend - how cool!) is doing Preparing. Anyway, she had notebooks for various topics: copywork, spelling, poems, memories / highlights, and other papers. In all fairness, the day I was introduced this, the kids kept running in and interupting and I was on input overload.
Regardless, we will be using the 2 levels between her kids anyway.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE school supply shopping (who doesn't, right?). And it helps the school year feel fresh and new. But I really don't like buying more than I need either (we must be responsible homeschool moms).
With all the said, what kind of school supplies do I need to grab for Beyond and Bigger? I am thinking in terms of how many composition books, spiral notebooks, loose leaf triple lined printing paper, folders, binders etc? Do either of them start any formal art where I would want more than waterpaints, tempra paints, colored pencils, markers and crayons? Keep in mind you are chatting with a mom who is leaving the world of textbooks and used to a big binder for worksheets and writing paper for every subject and 1 lone journal for weekly writing.
Thanks for your help!
