I am new to HOD this year. I am excited to be on the message board and get to know some other familes that are using HOD! :D We are starting Preparing in a few weeks. I have a dd that is 10 and a ds that is 8. I also have a dd that is 3 and another dd that is 8 months. The two little girls will be playing and trying to stay out of trouble (Lord willing).

I was wondering what kind of notebooks is best. What I mean is 3 ring binders, spiral, or compostition notebooks? One for each subject or one for all subjects in one notebook divided up? Plastic sleeves or hole punch? I would like to keep the costs down. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :P

Welcome to the HOD Board! :D When we did PHFHG last year, we enjoyed using the composition books from Walmart (they were inexpensive). We used these for science, grammar, and written narrations. For the common place book, we had fun choosing a more special book (my ds used one from master books that had lines, and was a hardbound book). They have special looking books like these as Walmart or Target for reasonable prices as well. Then, we bought cheap copy paper for the notebooking, a 3 inch 3 ring binder, tabs for the binder, and clear plastic sleeves. We got our clear plastic sleeves at Office max because I could buy them in bulk, and they were less expensive. HTH! Have fun with PHFHG - sweeping through history in that manner gave my ds an appreciation for the flow of history, and a deeper understanding of where we are today - it was a fantastic program to do! :D

In Christ,
