Hi there! My ds really enjoyed hi-lighting his verse each week in his own Bible and copying it right from there when we did Bigger Hearts. He put a sticky note under each line and moved it down to make it easy to keep his place. He put them on index cards in a special little hand-held photo album (those leather book looking ones from Walmart). He still looks back on the verses hi-lighted in his Bible with fondness, and he kept up the hi-lighting when we did PHFHG. I just wanted to encourage you that you don't have to type the verses unless you really want to - a large print Bible and a sticky note could do the trick too! :D

In Christ,
Julie

Julie,
That is a great idea! I will get some bible highlighters for my son. I already have a large print Bible. The idea of having them highlighted and copied straight from the Bible is great. I do like to put the verses up, on the wall so Daddy can see them as well. Any other tricks for Bigger, please let us know:-).

We did the exact same thing as Julie did with Bigger. My son loved getting to highlight the verses he had memorized! :D

I found my kids some Super Giant Print Bibles on half.com and they LOVE them! It makes it so much easier for them to find the verses and read them. I like the highlighter idea!

I love the idea of framing the Bible verses - one of my very favorite verses comes to mind... Deut. 6:6-9:
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

This idea fits that verse beautifully - o.k - now you've got me thinking where to hang them - great idea!

In Christ,
Julie

One day my son took all his highlighted scripture cards down and put them all on theiside of his door and the walls of his closet. When I asked him what he was doing he said he wanted a prayer closet, so he wanted Gods word to be visible. That was 2 years ago,he still goes in there to pray but now there a lot more scriptures on the walls.

These are wonderful ideas.... i am so inspired by the prayer closet idea... I did want to print the verses up and put onteh wall for the week so that they are visable to all and since I have two in bigger hearts I can read it with them easier if it is on piece of paper that we can all read aloud together... I guesss they can read the verses in their index card books but I wanted them visual.... so nobody has them so far huh?

If you PM me your e-mail I can send them to you in NASB or have Michelle send them to you in NIV. You can pick what translation is either the one you use or closest to it.

We are still in Beyond. But I had my children highlight the memory verses in their own Bibles this year and they loved it. I noticed that they are becoming more and more familiar with the Bible (i.e. Old/New Testements, Books, Chapters, Verses). I encourage everyone to try to do this. I cannot wait until they are older and they can look back and see all the verses that they have memorized. We use yellow for school, and if they want to highlight a favorite verse or a verse from their devotions then they use a different color. Another thing that we do is make it a contest to see who can find the verse each day on their own. They love it. I give them Bible stickers when they find it (and when they try to). - I do love the prayer closet idea. My girls have bunk beds, maybe the space around their bed could be used as their prayer closet (since their closet is so full of stuff:))

we used a spiral bound set of 3x5 neon index cards. After a few weeks, he also began including the character trait that corresponded along the bottom edge. He was very proud of his book as it filled up and it was somewhat durable to move around with.
