Want to link my blog to HOD...can I?

Post by busybee4 » Fri Jul 10, 2009 2:24 pm

I've seen on some of the blogs (that I lurk at 8) ) that somehow you can find the pictures of the manuals that you are using for your current school year and post them in the sidebar of the blogs. I'd like to do that but where do I find the links for them. I'd like to have them availabe for someone who happens to be "lurking" on my blog so that they can easily find their way back here. Any way I can do that?

I think [and I hope this is alright with Carrie] that on my blog you can add a picture or a link on the add a gadget.I then copied and pasted the curriculum guide picture from the main website and added a link in manually to HOD
- Delighted to have used LHTH,LHFHG and Beyond, Bigger , Preparing and DITHOR
currently Using
LHTH slowly with my 2 year old
Starting Bigger with my 8 y/o About to add on DITHOR
Finishing Preparing with my 12year with ASD/LD

If you are using blogspot this is easy... Two ways.

1. Save the image to your computer or to a photo host like photobucket. Pick add a gadget from your layout. Pick add picture. There is a spot where you can add a link to the picture. Copy and paste your link in. Upload your picture. Done.

2. By hand in html. In html you will see something like this.

<A HREF="http://www.heartofdakota.com"> <IMG SRC="http://www.photobucket..1234f"> </a>

The image source is where the photo is from like photobucket. The A HREF is the link you want associated with the image.

Edit your post.
Go into html mode.
Where you see a href = "www.photobucket change that to your heart of dakota link. Just don't change the IMG source link.

IF you can't figure it out, copy it and post it here in html and I'll fix it for you. Then you can just copy and paste it back.

Daisy,

So I guess I'm really showing my computer illiteracy here!!! Here is the code that I copied from photobucket:

<a href="http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... earts1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Beyond Manual" src="http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... .jpg"/></a>

And here is my blog: http://rubyslippersschool.blogspot.com/

I've tried what you said but am still doing something wrong. :| When I click on the manuals it takes me right back to photobucket. Thank you for your help!!

Okay, we can do this. ;-)

This is what you have. First a lesson...

<a href="http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... earts1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Beyond Manual" src="http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... .jpg"/></a>

This is your image source. It is where your image is located in computer world... See src=" That stands for Source.

<a href="http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... earts1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Beyond Manual" src="http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... earts1.jpg"/></a>

This is what your picture is linked to....

<a href="http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... earts1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Beyond Manual" src="http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... .jpg"/></a>

The green link is what you want to change. You want to change it to this...

<a href="http://www.heartofdakota.com/byd-little-hearts.php" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Beyond Manual" src="http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... .jpg"/></a>

Copy and paste that into your blog and you should be good to go.

I see you got the first one!! Keep trying, you'll get it. Don't lose your quote marks. Those are important.

If you need to, post the html and I'll change it for you.

HTML code can be really frustrating. It takes a while to start "seeing" what they are talking about.

It's like an undescernable forgien language!!!! (I don't even think I spelled any of those word correctly!! It's late here!!) The only reason I got the first is because I copied what you had!!! I tried all kinds of things with the second but can't get it! I was about to leave it as it was until I saw your email!!! :D :D

Here is what I got off of photobucket: <a href="http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... hands1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac14 ... hands1.jpg" border="0" alt="Little Hands to Heaven" ></a>

I'm up WAY too late for all of this!! But I'm so glad that you're helping me!! It's been a blessing!!

I just left you a comment. You need to put back in " and a space right after php. Then you'll be all fixed.

Hi Ladies!

I'm new to HOD but just wanted you to let you know there's an additional way to post pictures w/ links in blogger. It's a bit easier for those who may not feel comfortable working with the html codes.

1. Right click on the larger image of the curriculum guide (which comes up after you click on the guide from the HOD home page) and choose "save image as" to save it to your computer.

2. Sign in to your blogger account and choose "customize" then "layout" then the tab labeled "page elements".

3. Choose "add a gadget" and then choose "picture" from the list.

4. When the "picture" window opens you can type HOD's home page in the blank box next to "link" and for the picture choose "from your computer" and find the picture you saved from the HOD page. Choose "save" at the bottom of the window and it's on your page with a link to HOD. :)
