Conferences and Expo...Are they worth attending???

Hello Everyone,

I live in GA, and I was told about a large Homeschooling Expo that is being held here July 31st and August 1st. There is also a Homeschooling for Excellence 101 conference on July 30th.

I was wondering if either of these things are worth me attending? I may only be able to attend one due to costs, but I am not sure yet. Which one should I attend if I have to pick? The conference is specifically for those new to homeschooling which would be great, but the expo sounds wonderful too.

What goes on at these events? Please fill me in with any information and what your experiences have been with them. Thanks and have a wonderful day! :D

Homeschool conventions have many booths with vendors selling everything from art supplies to curriculum, from computer CD's to bread making machines, from audio books to driver's ed in a box. HOD will have booths at the GA conference. HOD brings as much stock as possible to the book fair so you can purchase it without paying shipping. If HOD runs out of stock at the conference, they ship it for free within a week to your home. So, you can save on shipping by purchasing at a book fair, look at the entire HOD line of curriculum and materials. There are scheduled speakers that are often interesting and motivational to hear. If we have the funds, I often purchase my art supplies, audio books, educational computer games, etc. at book fairs. HTH!

In Christ,
Julie :D
