We are just finishing Beyond and did the emerging readers. I was going to do emerging readers again with Beyond, but am I right in that they are the same books?
My thought had been to get started with Bigger and then maybe add in DITHOR in the middle of the year.
DS has done well with the emerging readers, he reads it himself then I ask him the questions. And I read the book either before or after to know if he answers correctly.

Re: Question about emerging readers for Bigger
If your ds has finished the emerging readers, then he would start DITHOR Level 2/3 next. You could ease into it by doing DITHOR 3 days a week at first, using easier books and helping ds with the writing in the student book. If his writing has not caught up with his reading, you can have him answer the workbook orally while you write his answers. Then, after a month or so, you can write his oral answers on a marker board and he can copy them in the Student Book. Finally, he'd just write his answers on his own. About halfway into the year, you could do DITHOR daily. We found that progression to work well for our young ds beginning DITHOR.
Here is a link to the Level 2/3 book packs - you'd probably want to begin with Level 2:
