A couple of days ago, my family and I went to the Thornton W. Burgess Museum while in Cape Cod visiting my Mother-in-law. It was such a lovely place! The lady who worked there was quite impressed that Evelyn (and Joshua....he listens in) knew all the characters. :D Here are some pictures of our HOD "field trip".

Here is the museum and was the house he lived in.

"Mr. and Mrs. Petter Rabbit" aka Evelyn and Joshua!

This was neat...it was a glassed-in 3-D scene of "The most beautiful thing in the World" from Mother West Wind.
Image

This was a little hole in the wall that you had to look into to view the inside of Farmer Brown's chicken coop....sorry it is a bit dark, but then i WAS a hole in the wall.

My husband's favorite part....watching the bees....he was facinated!

And just to prove that I really was there....

Oh, I am so jealous!!!    What a treat!

My kiddo's love Thornton Burgess books. In fact, they have named some of the birds and wildlife around our house after the characters in the books.

I'll show your pictures to my kids later. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.

Thanks for sharing.

That looks like such a neat place. My oldest loved the books and now I get to read them again this year to my younger son.

How fun! That is just what I imagined the setting to be - very lovely. Your family had such a nice time there, and I'm sure this field trip was so special because "They'd sat with a book awhile" (the Thorton Burgess series in LHFHG). Very CMish - and further proof that lingering with a book allows dc (and moms too :D ) to savor them. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with us here. :D

In Christ,
Julie

Oh! What a wonderful field trip! I wish we lived close enough to visit his home too. :D My boys truly love Thornton Burgess and his way with words. Greyson was sad to see the end of his Burgess' books with LHFHG, however we own many of the other Burgess books, so he'll have years of cuddling up with Thornton Burgess ahead of him!

Thanks for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
