LHTH for both?

i just had a thought. right now, in my possession, i have LHFHG for my 5 1/2 yo and LHTH for my 3 1/2 yo. i was thinking today...if i do LHTH with both of them (doing separate phonics, math and reading of course) and supplement with some first reader biographies for my older, then next year (when they are 61/2 and 4 1/2) maybe we could do little hearts together? that may be stretching it...my 5 yo listens and sits still very well and would really like the history in little hearts...but it would be way easier to only be doing one guide this year with a 1 yo in the house.
for those of you who have done these guides, what are your thoughts?

I think it's a doable idea and with the 1yo running around (and growing to be a 2yo!) as well, it might be the better idea. I wanted to combine my two oldest, but realized I needed one of them to be free to keep the 2yo busy while I did school with the other (not to mention their ages are close, but skills are not). I know many ladies here have done LHFHG with a 4.5 yo and started off slow with great results. In fact, I think Julie (my3sons) did this. There's always pros and cons to combining and I'm sure others will have more to say on the matter

i wonder if i would be holding my 5 yo back too much? and i'm not sure i could, in good conscience, combine my older two indefinitely and leave my youngest always on her own (she's our last, and i wouldn't want her to always be alone in curriculum!)...maybe i could do little hearts with my oldest and do LHTH at half pace with my younger?
