hello!

I am thrilled!! to have found HOD and am so excited to be starting LHTH with my 4yr old dd in the fall.

i was looking through the first several years of HOD and had a question about the science texts.....( i just like to see the forest and then focus on the trees) If i do LHFHG and use the kindergarten science text for my dd at age 5 when she is in kindergarten technically the following year when she does Beyond LHFHG in 1st grade, the science book that provides the text connection is the 2nd grade science text. For those of you that have used these curriculums, is it a big deal to do the K science text with LHFHG then skip the first grade one and move onto the 2nd grade text with BeyondLHFHG?? Would the 2nd grade text be too advanced for a 6 year old?

In an effort to not be redundant, i searched past posts but was unable to locate an anwer...

thanks in advance for any thougths on this matter and once again I am so impressed with what HOD offers...it seems like it is going to be exactly what i was looking for!! I think Carrie has done a fabulous job creating this!

have a great day

It won't matter if you use the K Science then go to the 2nd grade science. In LHFHG, whether you use the K Science or the 1st grade science, you are teaching the same essence of the lesson and just using pages that correspond to the lesson in each book. You don't start on page 1 and go through. Rather you study a topic wherever it may lay in that book. So whatever book you use, then you would cover the same topics in LHFHG before going to 2nd grade science.
Hope that makes sense and helps.
Val

Val explained it well

We started off in LHFHG using The K science but actually we found the Grade 1 a better fit.I dont think jumping from K to 2cnd would be a problem. The subjects are covered quite fully in LHFHG in addition to the science book
