If I do MFW K next year, then MFW grade 1 and then I can combine my then 4 1/2 and nearly 7 y.o. in Little Hearts. Does that sound reasonable? Will Little Hearts still be a good choice after completing MFW 1?
Ahh, I see what you were meaning in the other earlier post better now - hmmm! I'm sorry, I wasn't fully understanding your question earlier, but now I do.

I've seen the benefits first-hand of doing HOD's guides sequentially, and I'd love for you to reap those benefits for your own dc. The largest benefit I've found, is that our dc are able to be independent in the areas they are supposed to be because they've incrementally learned the skills fluidly from guide to guide. I had a year where Wyatt had to do another program because I'd gotten ahead of Carrie's writing, and I felt like even though I did choose high enough levels of things for him, he just lost out on some of the smoothness of the LA skills (especially the CM style ones) in the HOD guides because of the break, and it was tougher to move on with them then. So, here is what I'm thinking thus far...
When older is 4 1/2 to 5 1/2: do LHTH slowly
Younger takes in what he can
When older is 5 1/2 to 6 1/2: do LHFHG's Learning through History (left side of plans) half-speed, finishing the first half of it this year; do LHFHG Learning the Basics (right side of plans) full-speed finishing it this year.
Younger is 3 to 4 yo: do LHTH with him
When older is 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 yo: do the second half of LHFHG's Learning through History (left side of plans) half-speed, finishing the second half of it this year; do Beyond Learning the Basics (right side of the plans) full-speed with these choices: spelling list 1, either phonics or emerging reader's set, math 1A/1B, 1 of the storytime sets)
Younger is 4 to 5: do the second half of LHFHG's Learning through History with older sis, begin right side of LHFHG half-speed
When older is 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 yo: do all of Beyond as is, only for the right Basics side of the plans use these choices: spelling list 2, either emerging reader's set or DITHOR Level 2/3, math 2A/2B, a different storytime set from last year)
Younger is 5 to 6: do left side of Beyond with older sis, finish out the right side of LHFHG
*Note: You could do Beyond just 4 days a week at this point if you'd like, and take about 44 weeks to go through it too.
I think this would make for a very nice plan of combining your 2 over the years. Of course, if you decide to do something else, anytime you do LHFHG (or any HOD program) will be a nice time to do it.

HTH!
In Christ,
Julie
