DITHOR - How much time each day?
I know that a lot depends on the child, but in general, how much time do you take to cover DITHOR? Is it scheduled 5 days per week or is there room for flexibility with scheduling (without falling behind)? My concern stems from the fact that my daughter is a "pokey little puppy" so to speak. If DITHOR adds an additional hour to the day we may have to cut something else to make it fit. I work outside the home so we have to wrap up by 2pm 2-3 days per week. I also need to allow some time to assist my "mostly independent" 7th grader.

I think it would probably depend how old your child is, too. We were in level 2/3 and spent 20 min a day on it. We love DITHOR, by the way! I think you'd want to make sure that the amount you were having you child read to you were short enough that you could be done in 20 min with everything every day. Here's a link to another post that I just responded to about DITHOR. It might give you a better peek into it.

I know we have loved DITHOR this year!! I think it's definitely a wonderful reading porgram! If you're totally new to HOD (and in my mind I'm imagining you starting Bigger - so if I'm not right on that let me know), you may want to get the main guide going 1st and then add in DITHOR. We just started them together and that went well for us, but just wanted to throw that option out there.

Re: DITHOR - How much time each day?
cozyfamily,
We blocked out 20-25 minutes for Level 2/3, 30-35 min. for Level 4/5 and 40-45 min. for Level 6/7/8. We do it 3 days a week according to the recommendation in Preparing Hearts on up. However, with our oldest son we did it 5 days a week and 4 days week on various years. My kiddos are voracious readers, and we've loved the discussions we've had through DITHR.
With my kiddos, in the early levels if there was a Student Book assignment I typically wrote notes on a whiteboard during our disussion of the Student Book for my kiddos to copy in their book AFTER the discussion was done. This kept the lesson moving along, kept my kiddos attention, and made sure that I didn't have to stand over my kiddos waiting for them to complete the written work before we could head on to the next question. Anyway, just a thought.
Blessings,
Carrie
