Adding in the Burgess stories to BLHFHG...

I know these are not included for the Beyond program, as they are part of LHGHG. When I realized we'd be starting in BLHFHG and would be passing up some of the things I would have enjoyed from Little Hearts, I decided to add them right in.

I already had quite a few of the Burgess animal stories books, and I didn't want to pass them by and not include them in some way with our daily schedule. So each morning we read one chapter from one of the Burgess books to start our day, and we're really loving this!

Actually we've started off with Old Mother West Wind, then I plan on reading through the books as they're listed in Little Hearts. I had looked back sadly to realize we'd miss these by not starting in LHFHG, and I just had to hang on to them! That's what is so great about this program. It all just seems to fit so seamlessly together, even adding in something from the previous program works well too!

I have added in some Burgess read-alouds that are not scheduled in Little Hearts because my dd loves them. :D I will probably get some more to read over the summer.

We have an extra one that we are adding as well. I know what you mean though. It is like you can put anything that goes with the theme or similar to what was before and it still flows. 8) I love being able to add. It has relieved me of all the guilt from not being able to add before and having it sit on my shelf. Now sudden I can make it all work and it all coordinates well. Maybe that is because HOD is covering what has been on my heart to cover myself but never quite could. 8)

Aren't those books a find! My older sister shared them with me, and we laughed out loud about the antics the animals get into. It reminds me so much of my own children and gives my kiddos such a glimpse into the natural consequences of one's actions.

I'm so glad you have time left in your day to add in things if desired. That is the way HOD is designed to work! 8)

Blessings,
Carrie
