I thought this would be a good place to ask this...
I would like advice on a good devotional book for couples. I am looking for something that is just "short and sweet," but will encourage both my husband and I to really "think" and have some good discusions and prayer time together.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Laurie,
I just wanted to mention
God's Hand In Life's Little Moments. I did not purchase it as a devotional for both my husband and myself, but I imagine you could go through it together. There are opportunities throughout the book that offer a "prayer to share" (with your husband) and that could be a valuable and fullfilling experience for the two of you. Maybe Julie can pipe in and shed some light on that some more.
Oh, and time-wise, GHILLM is very doable because it is set up in little "chunks" that help you to actually accomplish the reading within your busy schedule/life. HOD just seems to have a knack for providing things in effective bite-sized amounts!
Here is the link to GHILLM:

We often use the Couple Devotional Bible by Zondervan. You can find it at Amazon pretty cheap most days.
We have also used Night Lights by Dr. Dobson.

Thanks, Candice!

The prayers in GHILLM have really drawn me close to my dh, and he's especially appreciated the "wife" portion of the devotional since it directly pertains to his relationship with me.

It would work to go through this with your husband from the standpoint of each theme's character qualities. If you are looking for something written in a very specific way for you and your dh as a couple, Night Lights by Dobson was good (or the portion my dh and I got done was good). We also tried to do Shepherding a Child's Heart, and enjoyed that for a spell too. I'm always more gung-ho to do these types of things than my dh is though, so if you and your dh are really on the same page about that, there are some great couple devotionals. Both of the ones I mentioned will deal with you and your dh and your relationship with your dc. I just finished doing The Love Dare (if you've seen Fireproof, the movie, it's like that). It was life-changing for me. I imagine it would be truly amazing to do that along with your dh if he's open to it!
In Christ,
Julie
