Should I be adding to it or will it be enought for her? What, if anything, do/did you add for your 3rd grader in beyond?

I am not doing Beyond for a third grader but I just wanted to make sure you looked at the placement chart and found the best fit for your child. http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php Beyond I think is one of those programs that really is ability placement. So I wanted to encourage you to look at that and then see how you think your child fits. I know other moms will have great advice for you. :D I just wanted to make sure you considered the comparison to the placement chart because I have found the chart is very accurate and helpful in placement.

I definantly felt she abilty placed in beyond. And she will be 8, as it says 6-8. But then it says for a 1st or 2nd grader. I didn't know if I should being adding something more for a 3rd grader.

Mumkins,

If your little sweetie places in Beyond on the placement chart then you'll be fine with it as is. The only thing you could consider adding if you desired would be the Rod and Staff English for grade 2 (only if your duaghter has already had an introduction to the parts of speech already), the dictation passages from the Appendix of Bigger Hearts (only if your little honey is past the spelling lists in Beyond), and the activities for math 2A/2B (only if your daughter is doing Singapore for math and is at the 2A/2B level).

Blessings,
Carrie

I think Beyond will be great as is for an 8 yr old.

We've done no formal spelling, so I'm sure the spelling lists will be fine. We're doing 'Complete English Smart 2' A Candain book, but will likely switch over to R&S 2 when done. I've ordered 1A for DS and 1B for DD. Can I pick up the pace a little for my DD in Singapore? I'd just prefer she not be in a grade 1 book, but I didn't feel comfortable putting her in 2A yet.

For Singapore math it's levels, not grades. Kids usually test a level below their grade, so a 2nd grader might typically be using 1A or 1B. Don't let the numbers bother you.
