I decided to get Beyond to use for my 1st/2nd graders starting in about a month (we school year-round). I was trying to be extra frugal since the homeschool budget was already spent. So, I decided to download Stories of the Pilgrims, Boys/Girls of Colonial Days, and Morning Bells. I have an older edition of American Pioneers and Patriots. Now I'm looking at the guide and trying to figure out how to find the corresponding pages in my editions of the books, and it's a lot harder than I thought it would be, even with having the table of contents for the current books. I'm super annoyed at myself, because I've made this "open and go" curriculum way more complicated than it needs to be. Not to mention, I'm going to use a LOT of paper and ink to print these books.... I should have just bought the right books to begin with, and I'm seriously considering going ahead and getting them soon.

I've learned my lesson for next time though. I'm already stashing away money each payperiod to save up for LHFHG and Bigger, and I'm planning on buying full packages directly from HOD!

I never find downloading books a good deal. With the price of paper and ink, it takes twice as much money. Unless of course you read it online, and I can't do that. Too hard on the eyes and I don't enjoy being on the computer ALL the time. So I've been there done that as well.

I agree!! Printing out a book is usually not that great a deal and it's frustrating to boot. I prefer books, they are more portable than a computer and printer! LOL

I'm nodding along with you here! I've done this with other books (not from HOD) and had similar experiences. There's just something about a book that makes it special - and the paper/ink add up to more $$$ than we ever think they will!

I did it. I went ahead and ordered the books I needed. Now Beyond will truly be open and go for us. I'm glad I saved myself the frustration later on.

LOL - I know what you mean. With Bigger, I ordered the main pacakages from HOD and then just got the read alouds from places like bookmooch and paperbackswap. But yeah, definitely order the packages from HOD. It makes life so.much.easier!

Congratulations!!!!! I am very happy for you....I too tried to save money and got an older version but it was more trouble than it was worth so I ended up ordering the new version. Now I know for next time. Have a great year and enjoy!
