Tecahing Singapore without the textbooks

Post by Mumkins » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:43 am

What's it like? Are the activities similar to what would be taught in the textbook? Is it enough for kids who sometim struggle to grasp concepts?

I would say you'd be better off helping your kids get the concepts using Carrie's activities than the textbook. This has been my first year with Singapore, and we've used 2A and 2B along with the activities in Bigger. We did the suggested activities together to "teach" the concept and then my son did the workbook on his own. Bigger doesn't have activities daily...but I think in the younger years there are daily activities to teach the concepts. They're fun and easy! :D And, you could keep going with the activity until you thought your child "got it".
