Need to catch up!

How do you catch up once you have fallen behind? I just had our sixth child and it was very scary the whole thing. Emergancy c-section and NICU stay, plus I was in very serious condition myself. So now that we are both home and I am feeling better. Praise the Lord! The power of prayer is amazing!!! I am thinking about just doing the reading for History and maybe do the activites here and there, but mainly just the reading and then doing Math and Reading with the kids daily. Then when we are done with the History we would do the Science again just the reading mostly, we would do some experiments, but not all and continue with Math and Reading daily. We would probably do handwriting and spelling most days to, but not like in the book. We are doing Beyond and love it, but in order the start next year on time we need to catch up. I also have to give my Beyond book back soon to the person who lent it to me so she can use it with her kids next year. Do you think they would be missing to much? This is the second year for American History for the kids anyways. We had done MFW last year before I found HOD! They love the sit and listen to me read and then drawing a picture of what happened seems like fun to them and they get some art in too! So what are you thoughts. I am on Unit 18 and have until the end of May, maybe a week or two in June to finish this all. Thanks for any adivce.

Sheila,

It sounds like you have had a whirlwind this last while, but I'm so glad that you are home and are all doing better! PTL!

In all honesty, I think that I would do Beyond as written until your year ends. I wouldn't worry about catching up. I would just focus on systematically moving forward each day and on enjoying the journey. :D

Then, when you get to the end of your "year", I would reassess how much you have left to finish in Beyond. If you truly felt that you needed to start Bigger Hearts next year and that your kiddos were ready for it, you could just read aloud the remaining pages in the books from Beyond in the summer and call it good. :D

However, I would lean toward just teaching Beyond as is each day, stopping at your summer break, and then picking Beyond back up again in the fall. But, only you can know if that is best.

Blessings,
Carrie
