I will be doing "Bigger" and the new program "Hearts for Him" in 2009-2010. If I purchase the Bigger program with ALL packages, extensions, etc., could I use some of these books for my older students in DITHR? They will not be reading the "Bigger" books with their younger sister. When I place my next order I plan to purchase the book list which I think would help me now in my planning.

Some of the books do overlap...but not all of them. I think it really depends on the reading level of your older students and how much you want to challenge them. The $5 book suggestion list is really worth the money!

I think you could use either the Bigger Storytime books or the Bigger Extension books for some or all of the DITHOR books for your CTC dc. The Bigger Storytime titles are already organized 1 per genre. The read-alouds for all HOD guides are meant to be at higher reading levels than what dc are reading and comprehending well on their own independently reading. We also personally usually choose books for DITHOR that are slightly below our dc's best reading level, since they are learning many new skills with each genre, and that makes it harder already. So, because of these 2 points, I do think you can use those Bigger titles. You only need books for about 5-6 genres for CTC because DITHOR is done 3 times a week for 35 weeks. Each genre in DITHOR has 20 days of plans, so you will get through 5 genres of your choice for sure. The sample book ideas list is super helpful, but I think you could use those Bigger Hearts books too. HTH!
In Christ,
