OK, I admit it, I bought the one year bible last year and we didn't keep up well. But after listening to all the wonderful extras you ladies do for devotionals I thought it was time to get it back out.

I know its Feb. 4 not Jan. 1, but I decided to start at the beginning with Genesis. So we'll just ignore the dates and this way if I forget one day it won't stress me out because we're not on the right date to begin with.

I like it because I am reading a passage from the OT, the NT, the Psalms, and the Proverbs each day. The kids listen well for the most part but they are kids of course... Some books of the bible capture their interest more than others.

Tonight was Genesis 1-2, Matthew 1-2, part of Psalm 1 and part of Proverbs 1. I don't remember my parents reading scripture to us regularly as kids, I want my kids to remember...

I am using the Narrated Chronological Bible with my older kids and we really enjoy it. I also use a check list but it does not have dates on it. I can never keep on track with the date thing. We are actually thinking now that we will take two years to go through. I enjoy the HOD Bible section a lot and we really like to go farther into that as well. It has been so great to merge the two and to think the the biblical stories in terms of character and relate all that back to the history.

But how you do it really does not matter. I promise you this no matter what you do. Your kids will grow in the knowledge and understanding of Him. And God will bless your family through it. It has really stretched me and caused me to grow. I know they are getting a lot out of it but sometimes I really feel like I am the one who needs it the most.
